British Fort Loudoun

Featured in the John Wayne film "Allegheny Uprising," Fort Loudoun was built in 1756 to protect local settlers from Indian raids. The fort was named after the Earl of Loudoun, who commanded British forces in North America in the 1750s. Archeological investigations conducted on the site have uncovered colonial period artifacts as well as pieces from as far back as 8000 B.C.
